When I was 6 months pregnant we decided we wanted to get the nursery decorated before the baby arrived. I didn’t like the idea of bringing the baby home and not having a room ready for them. However we didn’t find out the gender of the baby so we had to go for something fairly neutral.

We opted for a yellow and grey theme, with the main feature being the tree wall sticker, a great focal point when you entered the room.

I am however known for changing my mind when it comes to home decor (much to my husband’s annoyance) and once baby Max arrived I instantly wished his room was a bit more ‘boyish’. But I’m sure all the parents out there know only too well that there’s not much time to do any decorating (or anything else for that matter) when you have a newborn.

Max is now 4 months old so I decided I’d waited long enough, it was time to get decorating. After discussing a few themes we settled on a rocket nursery. Now the fun could begin, shopping.

My first stop was Etsy. You can find so many gorgeous bits on there that you can’t find in high street shops. I wanted to have a feature wall so I headed straight to their wall sticker section. I found this lovely rocket wall sticker which you could customise to suit your colour theme so I went for navy and grey. Whilst here I also purchased some prints to have mounted on the wall. My favourite one is the one we have put above his cot which says ‘we love you to the moon and back’. The last item that I got from Etsy was a yellow light up star that we’ve put on a shelf in the corner of the room.

I wanted to get a pillow to put on the rocking chair we have in his room and whilst shopping in Mothercare we came across a rocket pillow that was perfect. It was in the sale too so that was a bonus.

Lastly I wanted to find something unique to Max, something personalised that no one else would have. I came across a lady called Charlotte from Charlotte Adcock Designs who takes commissions for drawings. She’s been drawing ever since she was old enough to hold a pencil but only started her business up last year. I love ‘shopping small’ as I call it and supporting new talent so after giving Charlotte my rocket themed brief I was sure she’d produce something beautiful for Max. Just 2 weeks later I received this gorgeous drawing. It was just what I asked for and it’s taken pride of place in Max’s room. Charlotte also does paintings and screen prints which are equally as lovely as her drawings.

We’ve spent the last few days decorating and finally finished yesterday. I love it so much I just had to show it off. I’ve added some more photos to the gallery at the top of this article. I hope you all like it just as much as we do.
