In this series I interview some of my favourite bloggers and delve a bit deeper into their blogging life. This week I’m pleased to introduce Becci from The UnNatural Mother who documents all the madness that comes with motherhood. Over to you Becci…..
What made you make the jump into the blogging world?
It was several different things really. I have always enjoyed writing and photography and I wanted to create something to show my 2 children when they were older so my blog was born from that.
What was the inspiration behind your blog name ?
Truthfully it’s because I am not a natural mother. I don’t think any of us are. You can’t practice at being a mother , you have to learn one mistake at a time. I wanted to show the not so perfect side of parenting so The UnNatural Mother fit the bill perfectly.
Is blogging your main career or just a hobby?
I call it my night job. By day I work in the travel industry but between the hours of 5am-7am and 7pm-12am I am a blogger. My target is to turn it into a full time job by the time my daughter goes to Pre-school in 2 years.
What topics do you blog about?
My main topic is general life as a parent of 2 kids but I also cover fashion & beauty.
If you didn’t have your blog what would be your dream job?
I would love to be a fashion journalist, with front row tickets to all the latest designers’ shows across the world. Of course they would have to kit me out in their designs so I looked the part .
If you aren’t blogging what could we find you doing?
On an adventure with the kids. I hate being stuck in the house and I am a big advocate of being in the great outdoors so I normally get the kids wrapped up, make a picnic and set out for the day to a Zoo or a nature reserve.
What’s been your biggest blog success story?
When one of my blog posts 5 Things I Have Learnt – The Morning After The Night Before about having a mummy hangover went viral to over 56,000 people. It was a post that took 10 minutes to write and I added a funny picture of me with messed up hair and wearing sunglasses. A few of my pictures of the kids have also won featured blogger of the week on the Living Arrows Linky and Point+Shoot. My blog is only just 3 months old so I’m pretty proud of my achievements so far.
What would be your advice to anyone looking to start their own blog?
In the words of Nike, Just do it !! I started mine on a Monday afternoon with a post about the Vicar who had just come to the house to discuss my daughter christening and everything that could go wrong went wrong in the hour he was with us.
Lastly, can you tell us something that people may not know about you?
I have an addiction to Gregg’s sausage rolls. I struggle with the addiction each day as I pass 10 shops on my way to work in Liverpool. I am 6 months clean of sausage rolls and staying strong 😂
