As a kid I was always big into arts and crafts. I used to love spending a Saturday afternoon painting, drawing and generally getting messy. Max obviously isn’t at the age yet where he can appreciate all things crafty but luckily for me I have a niece, Erin, and nephew, Ollie, who are never happier than when they have some pens and paper in their hands.

When I was given the opportunity to try some chalk markers from Chalkola I didn’t hesitate to say yes. I don’t get to spend much time with Ollie & Erin since Max was born so I set aside an afternoon after school to get crafting. They both love drinking their juice out of wine glasses as it makes them feel grown up so I thought I’d give them the opportunity to decorate their own with these markers.

Chalkola chalk markers can be used on Non Porous Surfaces only like chalkboards, whiteboards, glass, plastic and windows (it’s advised to test a small area first). They come in a range of colours, from metallic, to neon to more earthy colours. Due to their versatility they are popular amongst teachers, chalk artists, mum’s and children.

The chalk pens are a great  chunky size for little ones to grab hold of and they have a lovely design on them. It takes a few minutes of shaking and pressing up and down to get the ink flowing but then after that they worked wonderfully and the chalk ink flowed freely.

Ollie and Erin did start off pressing down quite firmly with the pens so the ink came out slightly too quick, but after a bit of assistance they eased up on the pressure. Less is definitely more with these chalk pens, meaning they’ll last a lot longer than most.

The kids did get quite messy and got some of the ink on their school uniform. After a slight telling off from my Sister all was well as the chalk ink came out in a 40 degree wash and didn’t leave any stains behind. The pens are also eco-friendly, non toxic, xylene free and odor free which is great when using with young children.

I think you’ll agree the kids made a great effort and their final designs are lovely.

The Chalkola chalk markers are available to buy from Amazon and they have kindly offered my readers a 20% discount. Just enter the code 20OFFSTR at the checkout. These would make an ideal stocking filler for your little ones. I can guarantee they will have hours of fun using them.
