A lot has been happening in our house over the past few months when it comes to home improvements. Since Max came along our lounge has been overrun with toys, bouncers, books and everything else in between and we’ve quickly run out of space.
Since our family has expanded we decided it was time we did the same to our house and came to the decision that a conservatory would give us the extra space we needed.
We ordered the conservatory back in August and were hoping that it would all be up and ready by now but we’ve run into a few unexpected delays along the way. I’m pleased to say though that the end is in sight and now the messy work is nearly over we can finally get onto the finishing touches.
One of the first things people notice when they come into our house is the fact that every room is decorated in different shades of grey. Not wanting to divert from this we’ve decided to keep to this colour scheme for the conservatory, picking a lovely light grey paint for the walls.
When it came to picking the flooring we agreed to go for a dark grey wood effect Amtico flooring. I’m not a big fan of carpets in conservatories, instead finding that wood flooring helps to keep the room more spacious looking.
We want to keep the conservatory as minimal looking as possible and it’s main use will be as a family dining area. We’ve ordered a gorgeous white and grey marble effect dining table with white leather chairs. In keeping with the theme Max has a gorgeous grey and white highchair and it will be lovely that we will have a space where we can all sit and eat together.
The painting and flooring are being done over the next three weeks so we have a completion date of the end of January. Once this is done it’s just time to shop for the finishing touches which help to make a house a home and then we can finally start to enjoy the new room and make the most of the extra space it’s given us. I’ll be sure to post some pictures once it’s complete.
