Valentines Day – the most romantic day of the year, and it’s fast approaching.
It’s often hard to think of fun and unique ways to celebrate the day with your loved one. With this in mind I’ve come up with my top 10 things to do on Valentines Day which I hope will give you some inspiration, and there’s something to suit every couple.
Get a room
Changing up your surroundings is a great way to spice up your love life. Booking a hotel room can be a nice change to the daily norm and can make you both feel instantly relaxed. No arguing about who’s turn it is to do the dishes or cook dinner. Instead you get to focus solely on each other in a new environment.
If time and money allows then push the boat out and whisk your partner away for a romantic break. From a log cabin in the Lake District, a boutique hotel in Paris or a luxury beach break, the options are endless. After all, who says no to a holiday?
I know what you’re thinking, but I don’t mean ‘that’ kind of physical. Get your hearts racing by doing something exciting like ice-skating, dry slope skiing or visiting a theme park. Enjoying something active is a great way to get those endorphins flowing, a proven method to help get you in a loving mood.
Go for a massage
I can speak from experience when I say this one will go down a treat. Book a full body massage at your local spa, or better yet book a couples massage and enjoy the experience together. Many spa’s offer great packages at this time of year so you should be able to grab yourself a bargain.
Sometimes the best gift you can give to someone is your time. You don’t even need to leave the house for this one. Turn off your phones, don’t answer the door, get in some snacks, jump into bed and simply enjoy each others company.
There’s nothing more a woman loves than being wined and dined. Instead of taking her out to eat, get the oven gloves out and cook up a storm in the kitchen. Light some candles, tell her to put her feet up and impress her with your culinary skills.
Shower them with gifts
There’s no better way to show someone you care than by giving them a gift. It doesn’t have to be expensive, but put some thought into it. A dozen red roses is ideal for the traditional romantics out there. A photo book of all the special moments you’ve shared so far is sure to impress, as is special piece of jewellery that they’ve had their eye on for a while now.
Ditch the traditional Valentines Day dinner and instead go out for a night of drinking and dancing. Head into town and have some fun with the cocktail menu – ever tried a ‘Slippery Nipple’? Or ‘Sex on the Beach’?
Reenact your first date
There’s a good chance you pulled out all the stops when you first started dating, keen to impress your new partner. Turn back the clock and remind them of those early days, where your stomach was full of butterflies every time you saw them. Cast your mind back and take a trip down memory lane by recreating your first date, it’s a great way to reminisce about how you felt when you first met.
Move those feet
Take them dancing. I don’t mean showing them your best twerking impression at your local club – I mean real dancing. Book a couples dance class, hit a salsa club and get those hips moving, or go see your favourite band perform live and get those feet moving.
Whatever you decide to do this Valentine’s Day just remember it’s not always about big, expensive gestures. Spending the day with the person you love, laughing and making memories, is all that really matters.
