We recently set off with family on holiday to Dubai, a country that has long been on my bucket list. I’ve wanted to visit for many years now and had high expectations. I’m pleased to say it exceeded these expectations and just a few days later I headed home with a genuine love for the most beautiful country I’ve ever visited.
Our home for our five night stay was The Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, a hotel that we carefully handpicked based on it’s 5* ratings and excellent reviews. It certainly didn’t disappoint and is without a doubt the best hotel I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in.
Opening it’s doors for the first time in 2011 the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray is a five-star luxury hotel on the iconic Palm Jumeirah in Dubai. Every inch of this hotel inspires awe and delight and sets the bar for luxury within Dubai. From the moment you step into the lobby you’ll note that the hotel is lavishly decorated and showcases magnificent hand painted ceilings, crafted marble, stunning chandeliers and breathtaking works of art.
The resort is made up of 379 guest rooms, with 26 luxurious suites and 38 royal residences offering the most beautiful ocean views. We were lucky enough to be staying in one of the royal residences, otherwise known as villas, and I’m not sure there’s enough words in my vocabulary to do this accommodation justice. Situated around a beautiful lagoon pool and amongst stunning tropical gardens the royal residences are the epitome of luxurious living. Set over two floors and boasting four bedrooms, six bathrooms, kitchen, lounge, private terrace and kids play room the villas are decked out with the finest interiors from Turkish marble, rich dark wood and ceramic tiles. The villas come with an on call 24 hour butler and access to a private beach. Our villa had a swim up access to the tranquil lagoon pool and it was beautiful to open the patio doors right out onto the water every morning.
Food & Drink
With 10 restaurants and bars to pick from there really is something for everyone when it comes to eating at the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray. Al Nafoorah offers a fine dining experience with an authentic Lebanese menu. At Amala you’ll find Northern Indian Cuisine, offering both indoor and al fresco seating, then stop and enjoy a drink at C Club. At Imperium, enjoy a range of French dishes and superb views over the sea. Lalezar is Dubai’s first Anatolian restaurant, where Turkish dishes are served amongst a firewood furnace. Musichall offers a charming dinner and dance cultural entertainment concept, where more than 10 acts perform whilst gourmet food is served. Unwind over Italian-inspired dishes at Plaj, overlooking the beach, or for a more casual experience head to the Sultan’s Lounge, with an international menu of light bites and afternoon tea. At the Supperclub, sample European Fusion, or combine trendy cocktails with Asian cuisine at Voda Bar. The Rib Room is home to the best steaks in the resort and has a delectable menu of prime meats including Wagyu beef . As well as these you also get access to over fifty restaurants throughout Dubai for guests booked on a half board basis.
Breakfast is served in a number of the hotels restaurants and you’ll find an impressive selection on offer including traditional cooked breakfasts and pastries as well as omelette, waffle and fruit platter stations, all freshly prepared to order.
One point to note is the price of the drinks. On average I was paying 35 AED’s for an orange juice, which is £8, and a pint of beer was 50 AED’s, which is £11. This is however standard prices for Dubai in general.

Jumeirah Zabeel Saray is a 45-minute drive from Dubai International Airport and is situated in an exclusive location on the west crescent of the iconic Palm Jumeirah, Dubai’s manmade island, and boasts unrivalled views of the Arabian Gulf and Dubai’s iconic skyline. Due to it’s exclusive location on the palm it’s necessary to get taxi’s when wanting to go out and explore. The iconic Burj Khalifa and the worlds largest shopping mall, Dubai Mall, are both a 25 minute taxi ride away and cost approx 65 AED’S which is £15.
The staff at the Jumeirah Zabeel Saray were incredibly friendly and efficient during our stay and they would always say hello as you passed them. The waiters and waitresses in the restaurants and around the pool deserve the biggest shout out. As with any holiday we got to know certain ones during our stay and they were always so friendly, especially towards the children. They would talk to them, give them high fives and just generally coo over them, and it really made us feel welcome. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they are a credit to the hotel.
The only disappointment we had was the weather. We’d planned on getting some much needed winter sun but it didn’t quite work out how we’d hoped. Dubai was experiencing an unusual amount of rain for the time of year and three out of our five days were overcast and wet. Even then the hotel staff did everything they could to lift our spirits and we hardly noticed that we were sat round the pool sheltering from the drizzle under umbrellas. The sun did finally make an appearance though and we managed to get two days of glorious sunshine and had some great family time down at the beach.
From the cold towels and refreshing drinks upon arrival, to the staff lined up waving us goodbye as we headed to the airport, nothing was too much trouble and it’s clear Jumeirah Zabeel Saray strive to give their guests the best possible experience during their stay.
Even the little details, which may normally go unnoticed, stood out. The luxurious toiletries in the bathrooms and the little pots of Tiptree jam in the breakfast rooms made the hotel feel like our home away from home.
I have been racking my brains trying to think of something even slightly negative to say about the hotel, as otherwise my review doesn’t sound very balanced, but I can’t. It’s very rare that I can say this but our holiday was perfect and one we will always look back on with only the fondest of memories.
