It’s safe to say Max’s wardrobe is filled to the brim with clothes and shoes, after all he does have a shopaholic as his mum. We all know the rapid speed children grow out of their clothes, so I’m regularly sorting through all his belongings and bagging bits up for local charity shops – it’s my way of giving a little back to those who may be less fortunate than us.
JoJo Maman Bébé recently got in touch about their ‘From A Mother To Another’, also known as ‘FAMTA’, campaign. It instantly struck a cord with me and I knew it was something I wanted to get involved in.
So what is From a Mother to Another all about?
Almost a third of all the UK’s clothing ends up in landfill, equating to 350,000 tonnes a year!! From a Mother to Another aims to prevent our outgrown or unused baby and children’s clothes from going to waste, by donating them to children and families in need. The recycling charity initiative aims to help clothe the thousands of displaced children living in Lebanon, during the harsh winters, who have never known a world without war. It will also help families in need in the UK, with clothing distribution via Trussell Trust food banks.
Over the past three years, JoJo Maman Bébé has delivered and potentially saved from landfill 125,000 pieces of clothing and over 20,000 pairs of shoes. How amazing is that?
Here’s how you can help:
• Make up 2 or more complete outfits from your child’s little worn, nearly new or outgrown clothes in sizes 0-6 years
• Wash and check that the clothes make a perfect outfit you would be proud to dress your own child in
• Place in a clear plastic bag and label with size/sex/season. E.g. 0-3mths/unisex/summer
• Deliver to one of 87 JoJo Maman Bébé stores across UK and Ireland between 18th February – 11th March 2018 (a full list of stores can be found here.)
Your clothing then gets sent out to the JoJo Maman Bébé Head Office and warehouse in Wales. The fab team there sort through all the items and package them up into lovely gift parcels. Once distributed into size and season, these parcels get sent out to families in crisis in both the UK and Lebanon.
As a little incentive (not that you need one), JoJo Maman Bébé are offering a £5 gift voucher as a little thank you when two or more good quality outfits are donated to store.
So what are you waiting for? Grab some clear plastic bags and go give an amazing gift to those who really need it.
