I can’t quite believe it but it’s already been three months since we moved into our new home. The house has come a long way in those three months so I thought I’d give you a little house update so you can find out what we’ve been up to so far and what our future plans are.

The main bulk of the work that needs doing is purely decorative, saying goodbye to the boring magnolia walls and injecting a bit of colour into the house. Although we have discussed adding a conservatory onto the back of the house in the near future. We live in Essex, near a little town called Bicknacre, and we’ve already been calling around to get some quotes from local companies which is exciting.

The living space and the bedrooms were the first rooms we tackled, seen as though they’re the rooms that we spend the most time in.¬†As you can see from the pictures below each room has a totally different ‘look’. Some people like the colours to flow from room to room but I wanted each room to stand out in it’s own right so intentionally chose different colour palette’s for each.

I’ve kept our bedroom fairly neutral in colour, using hints of blush and gold to break up the grey. The wire wording above our bed has to be one of my favourite things in the whole house – It’s lyrics to one of our wedding songs and it conjures up such happy memories every time I look at it.

I’ve gone for monochrome in Max’s room, with this gorgeous grey/blue half wall. The theme is ‘adventure’ and I’ve bought this to life by using these fab wall stickers and various other adventure accessories like his play-mat and artwork.

My idea for the spare room/office was ‘masculinity vs femininity’ – I’ve used a gorgeous blush pink shade by Farrow & Ball on the walls and added a few blush and brass accessories. I’ve added a gallery wall and have used black frames and black and white prints. This breaks up the ‘girlie’ touch and also ties in nicely with the desk.

Lastly is the living room – my favourite room in the house. I’ve gone for a dark blue feature wall and balanced this out by keeping the rest of the walls white. To accessorise I’ve chosen to keep it simple by adding in black and white artwork, cushions and rug whilst incorporating brass to brighten the overall look of the room.

So there you have it, our house update so far. I think we’ve done pretty well over the last few months and we love how it looks so far. I’ll check back in with you in a few months to show you further progress.
